I actually managed to get the new reading section finished. Well, almost. The comments part isn't finished yet and the list of books is nowhere near complete but apart from that its working. I'll get around to adding the rest when I get bored and have some free time. Other than that not much happening. I've been feeling a bit shitty these last few days. Don't know why, nothing I can really put my finger on but I've just had a real lack of motivation to do anything. Might go and have a snooze now, need to get my energy up. I've got a busy week coming up at work and really don't want to face it feeling knackered. Oh yeah, if you have any comments or suggestions for the new reading section let me know from the link on the frontpage. A mail will have to do for now, until I can set up a feedback link somewhere. |

I've been meaning to write something here for a few days now, but I've either been too busy, too tired, or too drunk. Not necessarily in that order. It's been a strange kind of week. A friend of mine has started workin as a DJ again so I decided to go with him on Friday night. He was workin at Center Parcs, one of the places I used to work. It was quite a strange experence. It must be 10 years since I did a night there, but it was almost as if I'd never been away. By the end of the night, I was quite tempted to see if there was any work going. Might be the change I need to get myself out of the rut I've been in for the last couple of years. It also turned out to be the staff party that night which was something I wasn't expecting. Neither was I expecting on of my ex girlfriends to be working there, that was a little awkward to say the least. Still, it was a good night and it got me out of the house for a night. Works been a little quiet of late, not quite gone the way I wanted since Christmas. I would say more, but that guy from Waterstones getting fired for the contents of his blog kinda worries me. I personally think its a bit fucked up being able to fire someone for voicing their opinion, but most companies seem to have clauses in their terms and conditions about bring the company into disrepute. I guess its just a question of where the line is drawn. Another scotch and I think its time to try and sleep. I've had a bit of a shitty day today. Spent most of the morning clearing up a virus hit. Not too serious, but one of the machines infected was a real pain the arse to clean up. Then to top it off, the clutch on my car started slipping on the way home. Not too bad just yet, but its going to need fixing sooner rather than later. I guess I'll just have to drive a bit more carefully until I get it sorted. No more flooring the accelerator from a standing start and I should get a couple of weeks out of it. Time at least to book it in with my mechanic rather than take it to nearest place when it finally packs in and get ripped off. Oh well, better hit submit and go and find some ice... |

Oh well, the holidays are over and I've got to go back to work tomorrow. Probably a good thing, I really need to get out of here and get working on something. I'm just glad the new year has rolled around, just need to get my thoughts on to someting else now. Shouldn't be too hard, few things I want to try when I get back to the office. Just before Christmas Novell release Open Enterprise Server (Get a beta copy here). Its the next version of Netware and will run on both the traditional Netware kernal and SuSE linux kernal. I want to give it a test run on both kernals, but given my limited knowledge of linux I think it'll take some time. The way I figure, I've got to start now or I'm going to end up left behind. The other option would be to watch everything get slowly coverted to Microsoft's excuse for an OS, I've seen that once and it ain't pretty. I've also been reading a book on SpamAssassin. Looks like a good product, and I really want to stop the mountains of spam I'm getting hit with both here and at the office. Given that it's free software and will run on a linux box, I figure I can get OES installed and SpamAssassin on the same box for little or no additional cost. That shouldn't be too hard to sell, and if the admin of OES isn't too different from traditional Netware servers I can't seen any objections from the support teams or the mangagement. I've not really done much else while I've been off to be honest. I did finally manage to get caught up on the stone, other than that; sleeping, drinking and reading mainly. Probably more drinking than is healthy which is probably another good reason to get back to work. I did finally pick up a copy of A game of thrones by George RR Martin. I'm about halfway throught it at the moment and when I finally get the new reading section of this website completed I'll put more thoughts about the book there. Well, I guess seeing as I'm up at 5:30am I better try and get some sleep and get my body clock back into line. |

So another year passes into history. Not really a very memorable year, least not for me. No major achievements, still single, still doing the same job. This year just seems to have drifted past in the monotony of work interspersed with hangovers. Maybe this year will be better, who knows. I'm not expecting anything different, but maybe that's the way to go. Anything that might come along is a bonus. Hmm, who am I trying to kid. Well, time to go start this year as I have the last couple. Take some flowers to the cemetery and say happy newy year to an old friend, then maybe a few beers... |
