Feeling : Hot! |
Hola from Madrid! Been trying to update this page for the last couple of days, without much success. It would seem the network in Alcorcon is very tightly secured, not able to get a connection on anything other than port 80 out to the internet. I have the wireless connection in the hotel sorted out now though, but seeing as its 12 Euros a day, I don't think I'll be connecting everyday! Well, I got here Thursday night around midnight. Hell of a flight, delayed because of a fault on the plane right before takeoff. They returned to the standpoint and powered down the plane and started it up again. This seemed to clear the fault, or so they told us. Sounds like a reboot to me, I wonder if Microsoft have started doing an OS for the flight deck...seems like it to me! Then to top off a wonderful flight, we hit Madrid in the middle of a huge lightening storm. Coming in to land was like being on a rollercoaster, kick ass ride though! Gotta love easyjet. Not! Well, been busy so far since I got here. We did manage to take time out today to go see a few sights. We had a look at the military museum, the Spanish name escapes me right now but that was fun. Then we spent a while in Park Retiro, then did a little shopping in the city. Nice to take a break from work. :) I took some photos and I'll get them up to the site when I can :) Time for me to go get a cervasa methinks...... Adios |

Feeling : Stressed! |
Madrid! Looks like I'll be back of to lovely Madrid agin this week. Been back a few days and we're still having issues with this server we put out there. I've never liked 3Com gear, and this stuff is giving us more problems that I care to think about. That Along with the problems Zen 4 is giving us with PXE is making life difficult and so its probably best if I am actually on site when the problems are happenening. Not sure how long I'm going to be there for, its looking like 2 to 3 weeks right now. The new call centre is opening on the 4th September, so I'll probably be there until then. Looks like I'll be flying to NYC for the gathering right from Madrid. Ok, i'm off to finish my laundry and do my packing, never know what time I'm gonna be expected to be at the airport. I'll try to update this site and add a few photos of Madrid while I'm away, it really is a beautiful city. I just hope I get time to enjoy some of it.

Feeling : Tired |
Back from Madrid! I tried to update this page from Madrid, but I couldn't manage it. It would seem that their firewall is somewhat over secure. Well, it was a hell of a trip. Arrived in Madrid about 10:30 on Wednesday morning, but my luggage didn't! Wasn't too bad, they managed to get it to the hotel before I'd finished work but it still pissed me off. I guess that's what you get when you fly with cheap airlines. I'm just glad I didn't check my laptop in! The job wasn't quite as easy as I expected, the routing situation on the site and the configuration of the firewall made things more difficult that I'd imagined. That coupled with the language differences made it all very hard work. When I left on Friday, was still a couple of problems to be ironed out, but on the whole, the server is in and working. I still feel tired from the travelling, and I have to go back to work tomorrow, but at least I'll get some time off when this job is finished. Well, time for me to go sleep no I think :)

Feeling : Hungover |
The morning after..... Well, Mr Williams leaving party happened last night...and boy does my head know about it this morning. Much fun was had by all I think, and much alcohol was consumed, no big shock there. As usual there was an impromptu visit to an indian restaurant in the middle of the evening followed by more alcohol. Despite the fact that there were a lot of people committed to playing in the five-a-side tournament at Lincoln this morning, the turn out was good and as usual the party didn't end until the bars closed, or at least the Cookie Club threw us out! Least my hotel bar was still open, gotta love the Holiday Inn!...but they really need to sort out there check-out times, noon is just way too early... Time for me to go catch up on my sleep I think...
